Biddulph Grange

A magical garden full of surprises with tunnels, dark passages and brightly coloured summer bedding plants.

The Dahlia Walk is at its best in August with yew buttresses separating the flowers into different colour zones.

Travel the world from the Italian Terrace near the lake, to an Himalayan Glen with magnificent rocks surrounded by rhododendrons, azaleas and ferns.

A tunnel leads to the vibrant world of China. Here a wooden Temple overlooks a pool surrounded by bamboo and weeping willows.

The entrance to Egypt is guarded by two sphinxes with a dark passage leading to the ‘Ape of Thoth’. Thoth is the god of botany while the Ape is his assistant.

Don’t miss the Geological Gallery with Bateman’s collection of rocks and fossils laid out according to the Christian story of creation.

Some narrow paths with steps and tunnels – ask at the ticket office for an accessible route around the gardens.

National Trust members visit for free.
