Capel Manor Gardens

With over 40 colourful gardens across our 30-acre-estate, there is plenty to see and do. You can explore our grounds throughout the year enjoying the beauty and colour that each season offers.

The 17th century Gardens are a beautiful highlight of our estate, featuring seasonal bedding, a rose archway and home to the Holly Maze.

The Old Manor House Garden was officially opened in 2010 by Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Displaying the history of the Capel Manor estate there are several themed gardens incorporated into the design including: Madame Suzanna Avery’s Kitchen, The Drapers Hall, Living Quarters and the Chapel.

The Walled Garden is a showcase for both productive and ornamental uses. The Walled Garden produces fruit, vegetables and cut flowers for the Manor House and houses several plant collections including our cactus and succulents glasshouse.

Other gardens to look out for are Johnsons Garden, the Queen Mother’s Garden, Mr Fothergill’s Display Garden, Temple Lake and the Japanese Garden.

Also wander around the Temple Lake to see the Koi Carp.

There’s also a mini zoo with a collection of exotic and domestic animals.

The site is home to the Capel Manor College’s Enfield Campus – the only environmental college in London.

The Gardens host a range of public events and are available for wedding ceremonies and private hire – see the website for details.

The Gardens are open all year round but opening times do vary. For up to date hours and for further information, please visit Capel Manor’s website.
