Hill Top Farm
Beatrix Potter bought Hill Top in 1905 with the proceeds from the sale of her books.
Expect to be greeted by Tabitha Twichet as you walk up the path through the cottage garden to the front door. Wander around the house and discover the objects and views that are so familiar to us all.
Below the house is the Vegetable Garden – and Mr McGregor’s wheelbarrow and spade.
On my visit, there was a pop-up cafe in the orchard.
Dogs are allowed in the garden but not in the house.
Check the website before visiting, as the house and garden are sometimes closed.
National Trust Members visit for free. If you are travelling by car, you must book a time slot as the Car Park is tiny.
