Houghton Lodge
Set above the River Test, the gardens surround the fishing lodge or cottage ornee.
Wander around the Kitchen Garden with its chalk cob walls. Thirty-two different types of apple tree grow here along with herbs, vegetables, wild flowers and sweet peas.
Walk underneath the Rose Arbour which is lined in the Spring by peonies.
The stunning Long Border is filled with bulbs, herbaceous perennials and annuals and dahlias in early Autumn.
Head over to the Peacock Topiary Garden. Originally laid out as a rose garden by Lady Wells at the beginning of the 19th century, it was replanted in 1970s.
Don’t miss a walk through the meadows to the River Test. Meet the alpacas as well as the Topiary Dragon.
