In the words of Monty Don: ‘Kent is the great genius of eighteenth-century garden design and Rousham is his masterpiece, one of the greatest gardens in the world’.

With the use of light and dark, the infinite shades of green, Rousham is the best surviving example of Kent’s work. The garden is peppered with water features and garden buildings including Venus Vale, the Cold Bath and the seven arched Praeneste.

Don’t miss the Walled Gardens with a double herbaceous border and vegetable garden. Beyond is the Rose Garden, apple trees and a 17th century circular dovecote.

There’s no cafe but picnics are allowed.

Children under 15 are not admitted to the gardens.

The house is only open by prior arrangement. The cost is £15.00 per person with a minimum charge of £150.00
