Wollerton Old Hall Garden
Described by Chris Beardshaw as a ‘world-class example of an English garden’, Wollerton Old Hall is a delight.
Covering three acres, the formal garden has been created around a 16th century house. Walls, topiary and fences divide the space into separate gardens, each with their own style and atmosphere.
The gardens come to life in Spring with anemones and hellebores followed by the cherry blossom, Clematis montana and species tulips
During the summer, the garden is filled with phlox and delphiniums as well as roses including the creamy yellow David Austin rose ‘Wollerton Old Hall’ named after the garden.
And before the garden is closed for the winter, the dahlias, hydrangeas and salvias come into their own.
The garden has significant collections of rare perennials some of which are for sale in the nursery.
There’s also an excellent tea room.
